Real Life Ad-Blocker

For this project I wanted to explore an alternative future in which augmented reality technology could be used to take away from reality rather than add to it.

I was inspired by Keiichi Matsuda’s Hyper-Reality video which shows a future where every interaction is augmented creating a world which is saturated by media. Real life ad blocker is opposite this. Media is reduced and you can choose what you want to see.

The video presents London but with all marketing and advertisements blocked out from your sight. With this diminished reality people could focus more on what matters than unnecessary and unwanted distractions. However, this does raise some potential ethical issues. For example could users also block other people they don’t like from their vision.
